GLOWBFC: A Beacon of Hope for Young People in Northern Province, Zambia.History
In 2018, GLOW (Girls Leading Our World) and BFC (Boys For Change) clubs were founded under Bakashana Organization's umbrella to promote adolescent wellbeing. These clubs provide a safe space for young people to learn, laugh, ask questions, and get answers freely.
Mission
GLOWBFC Clubs seek to offer youth the skills necessary to form a strong foundation of lifeskills, empowering them to become positive role models and cultivate respectful relationships in all aspects of their lives.
Vision
GLOWBFC envisions a nation where all youth are confident, assertive, and self-aware, in order to challenge harmful traditional norms and promote a more equitable world.
Objectives
- Help young people discover their true potential and become responsible citizens
- Foster effective communication and respect between boys and girls
- Promote healthy behavior, communication, and relationships among young people
- Emphasize the importance of formal and informal education
Successes
- Created employment opportunities for over 25 youths in Kasama Northern Province, Zambia
- Established over 25 school clubs, reaching over 1000 young people weekly
- Advocated for boys' scholarships and rescued over 100 girls from abusive homes
